Australian qualifications framework ( AQF )

The unique factor of the Australian Education system is its implementation of AQF. AQF is a national policy established 1995 that specifies the standards of qualifications for the Tertiary Education Sector ( Higher Education / Vocational Education and Training ) . With AQF your degree is recognized and authorized by the Government. Under the AQF, there are 10 levels that interconnects various schools, colleges and educational institutes in one single national system. This allows flexibility, choice and better career planning for students to move from one study level to another as long as their student visa requirements are fulfilled.

Visa process

International student visa for Australia is classified as student visa 500 or subclass 500. This visa is given for a maximum of 05 years, depending on duration for your course of study.

In order for you to study in Australia, you need to fulfill the following requirements :

  • Get a confirmation of enrollment ( CoE ) from a CRICOS registered provider.
  • Apply for a Student Visa ( subclass 500 ).
  • Pay Visa application fee of AUD 650 ( LKR 162,000 ) and keep the proof of payment.
  • Get the medical check-up done.
  • Wait for the decision.

Confirmation of enrollment ( CoE )

COE is the college offer letter that you receive from a University that you applied to study in Australia. It will only be offered to you by the university if you are eligible or fulfill the necessary requirements needed to study in Australia as an international student.

Student Visa ( subclass 500 )

Student visa 500 is a document issued by the Department of Home Affairs of the Australian Government allowing you to study up to 05 years, for the purpose of full-time study at an educational institution, in line with your enrollment. The processing time for a study permit to be granted or not granted will take about a good 08 weeks. ( about 02 months ).

Documents required for obtaining a student visa in Australia

  • COE ( Confirmation of Enrollment / Offer Letter ) Original or Electronic copy issued by the university
  • POI ( Proof of Identification : NIC / Passport / Birth Certificate ) Translated in English, notarized by a Lawyer / Justice of Peace .
  • Proof of Financial Support ( Bank Statements / Pay slips / Sponsorship letters etc ) Bank statements dating back to a year, with collection of at least AUD 46,000 - AUD 60,000
  • SOP ( State of Purpose ) Needed for both COE and Visa Grant
